Pre-requisites:

  • You must be an experienced hiker
  • Experience in Wilderness First Aid and/or Canine First Aid are a plus but are not required
  • Previous experience on the particular trail may or may not be required; the event organizer has discretion to make that call

When an event RSVP limit is reached and we have several interested members on our waiting list, we'll ask for at least one volunteer hike leader and raise the RSVP limit and split the group into two. The two groups will either stagger their start times or hike in opposite directions depending on the trail. In advance of the trip the event organizer will provide information to the hike leader and any co-leaders who have also volunteered. Information provided will include maps and detailed trail descriptions and the planned course of action for splitting the group at the trailhead. The event organizer will do all the pre-planning work for you, you just need to show up to lead your group.

For questions about a particular hike, please contact the organizer of that event directly rather than the Group Organizer unless of course she is the one organizing the event.
