Announcing a new Meetup for NOVA Trail Dogs Hiking Club!
What: Medium Hike - Potomac Overlook Regional Park When: Saturday, January 30, 2010 10:00 AM Where: Potomac Overlook Reg. Park Parking Spot 2758 Marcey Road Arlington, VA 22207 While the overlook is overgrown and no longer much of an overlook, the perimeter hiking loop at Potomac Overlook Regional Park is alive with birds wintering over, plentiful information about the park's environment, an active nature center, and some historical interests from early native inhabitants. The trail ranges over a wide range of elevations and is packed dirt. With the recent thaw and upcoming rains, the trail will be muddy and slick in places. It was passable during a hike, today. There is some uneven spots with tree roots while steeper slopes have timber reinforcements. Please wear sturdy shoes with good traction for this hike. We will follow the Red Maple, Heritage Loop, and White Oak trails. Parking is available at the comfort center pavilion and should not be an issue during these off season months. ----- Trail Type: Loop Distance: 2-3 miles Location: Potomac Overlook Regional Park, Arlington, VA When: Saturday, January 30th - 10:00AM Difficulty: Medium for elevation changes, at times narrow trails or uneven paths (see our Trail Rating System for more details) Hiking Time: 1.5 - 2 hours Restrictions: Leashes required at all times What to Bring: Snacks, hiking shoes, poo bags, drinking water Weather: Cancel for heavy rain, click here for forecast ----- Directions: Additional directions are available from the park's website, here Learn more here: http://www.k9hiking.c... |
