Announcing a new Meetup for NOVA Trail Dogs Hiking Club!

What: Medium Hike - WO&D Trail to Difficult Run Trail

When: July 12, 2009 8:00 AM

Where:
Starbucks at South Lakes Shopping Center
11170 South Lakes Dr
Reston, VA 20191
[masked]

This is a member-led hike being organized by Lisa & Caleb. Please contact Lisa with any questions.

This is a loop through Reston up towards McLean and back into Reston. The trails are a combination of dirt and paved trails. There are some stream crossings as well as road crossings and sometimes there are road bikers on the paved trails and mountain bikers on the dirt trails so it is good to leave early.

Details:
-----
Meet at the Starbucks in the South Lakes Shopping Center in Reston for coffee and breakfast at 8:00AM. We'll head out to the WO&D Trail around 8:30AM.

Total distance of hike approximately 7-miles.
This will require approximately 4-hours to complete.

We'll take the WO&D (West) to the Colvin Mill Run Trail (North). Take the Colvin Mill Run Trail (North/East) to the Difficult Run Trail (South/East). Difficult Run Trail (South) to WO&D Trail (West). And then head back the Starbucks in the South Lakes Shopping Center where there are places to eat lunch (Subway, Cafe Sano, Lakeside Asia) as well although the dogs may need to wait outside if people decide to pick up food.

There is plenty of parking in the shopping center for everyone. The trail does have water on it although it is a good idea to bring some because if it has been very hot some of the stream will be quite low. Also it is Fairfax County so although many people do walk this trail without their dogs on a leash, as a group hike we will follow local regulations and this will be a leashed hike.
