Introduction

Hello. My name is Alex. Very nice to meet you :-) Let's see I grew up in NJ, I'm in the Air Force and have lived in OH, NV, NM, OH, and now VA. I've lived here since 2006 and it looks like I'll be here fpr another four years.

Please describe the dog(s) you own: name, breed, age, sex, etc... so we can get to know a little more about our new pack member(s)!

Ernie is a 7yo male Rottie mix. Based on the DNA test he is ... wait for it ... Predominantly Rottweiler mixed with Labrador/Basset Hound/Toy Fox Terrier. I grew up with a Irish setter and at one time shared my life with 4 dogs totaling 300+ lbs

What are you looking for in a trail club? Describe what you hope to get out of the group and what can you contribute to the group.

I'm mostly looking to spend time out in the woods with Ernie off-leash, so most of the hikes I organize will be just that. And of course I do like meeting new people. I'm not much of a backpacker but I do enjoy a good car-camp + hiking.

What does your ideal day outdoors involve? Please give the name and location of your favorite local hike or walk and describe the trail for us. Is it rocky, is there much elevation change, does it involve water, etc...

I really like the area around Goods Mill Landing. Right on the water. There are several good places to hike around it and there is even the chance for some kayaking with Ernie in the Kayak. No canoes for me though, I don't need more scars :O haha

Have you and your dog(s) earned any titles or are you working towards any titles? Agility, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), working dog, pack dog, water dog, therapy dog, etc... ???

I believe Ernie would make a wonderful therapy dog, unfortunately he is too new dog reactive. But don't worry he calms down once he realizes your dog will leave him alone and ignore him. He's a 100% people dog.

Why should you join? Because the guilt will eat you up inside every time you look at your puppy if you don't >;-)
