This urban hike starts and ends in the rolling woodlands of northern Rock Creek Park. In between, it winds through city streets, with stops at Fort Stevens, a Union cemetery, and Walter Reed Medical Center. Back in the park, it reaches Fort DeRussey. Scenery: Rolling woodlands, creek valley, city streets, historic sites. Trail surface: About half dirt, half pavement; stony, rocky, rooty in places.
Dogs in costume are welcome! We will have prizes for the most creative costumes.
Following the hike, those who are interested can make their way over to Cafe Ole Mediterranean Bistro for a bite to eat on the terrace where dogs are welcome!
