Start with a visit to a dog-friendly winery and follow with an off leash open meadow walk into the sunset at VA's State Arboretum (maybe enjoying a glass of the wine you just purchased!).
For obvious reasons, this event is for members 21 years and up only. If you'd like to wear out your pup prior to the winery (best behavior!) I will be planning an early AM bike ride in Prince William County. You can view the details and RSVP for that event here: http://www.k9hiking.c...
Bluemont sits at an elevation of 951 feet on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains with sweeping views of Loudoun County all the way to Tyson's Corner on a clear day!
The tasting fee is $5 per person.
----- Directions: Please produce your own directions from Bluemont to the Arboretum, I will not be printing directions for you.
“ The wine tasting was a first for me and I really enjoyed it. The scenery as well as having my dog there really made it enjoyable. The arboretum walk afterwards was the icing on the cake. A nice relaxing sunset hike to that left Nola sacked out for the rest of the weekend after all that running! ”
“ Great day-- winery was a beautiful setting, we lingered at our table for hours with the pups. Finishing with an evening walk at the Arboretum was perfect, since the dogs had to sit and stay for such a long while at the winery! Thanks everyone! ”
“ Wow, the winery was very busy, but still enjoyable to sit around and chat. I'm glad they worked it out to give us the tasting but I'm sorry they screwed up communication of what to expect. Despite the mixup (they had several other larger groups there at the exact same time) they came through and I enjoyed the tasty bread and cheese. I'm looking forward to going back to the arboretum for a 'real' hike! Tons of room to run and play there, too bad Rip didn't get to see it! ”
