This 'fictitious' event is just a way for me to keep a running list of those members who have contributed to supporting our group. This will allow me to send you pre-announcements for upcoming trips.

At the time, Meetup doesn't allow me to manually select what members to email unless I'm doing it one at a time. This 'solution' will let me push one button and get the word out to all Supporting Members at the same time! I know it's not ideal, but ya gotta work with what ya got!
