As the weather report has solidified for the weekend, there is snow in the forecast for overnight Friday and into Saturday morning. I do intend to still lead this hike as long as the snow remains light (less than 3"). If the situation looks more treacherous come Saturday morning, I will email the group by 8 AM to notify if it is canceled. Please check the website and your email on Saturday morning before leaving your home to see if the hike is still scheduled.
Please take into consideration if you and your dog are capable of a hike for approximately 2 hours in temperatures under 30 degrees. If it is a short hair or skinny dog like my greyhounds or is a small/young dog -- please make sure to bring appropriate wear such as a coat or sweater for your companion. Snow on dirt paths also can result in slick conditions. Please wear hiking shoes and boots with appropriate traction. If you need to change your RSVP, you can do so up to 8 AM on the morning of the hike. After that, please call me directly at 703-606-1141 if you are canceling your participation in the hike. |

Alana, as past experience has shown you need to be careful about ice as well as the cold. In fact I'd be more worried about traction issues than cold issues. Just my two, unsolicited, cents >;-)
